ஸ்பு²ரத்பரானந்த³ரஸாத்மகேன த்வயா ஸமாஸாதி³தபோ⁴க³லீலா: ।
அஸீமமானந்த³ப⁴ரம் ப்ரபன்னா மஹாந்தமாபுர்மத³மம்பு³ஜாக்ஷ்ய: ॥1॥
Meaning
ஸ்பு²ரத்-பரானந்த-³ - resplendent of the supreme bliss; ரஸாத்மகேன - and the pure Essence embodied; த்வயா - with Thee (who were); ஸமாஸாதி³த- - made to participate; போ⁴க³லீலா: - in the pleasant sport; அஸீமம்- - (in) boundless; ஆனந்த³ப⁴ரம் - bliss (being); ப்ரபன்னா மஹாந்தம்- - immersed (they), great; ஆபு:-மத³ம்- - acquired pride; அம்பு³ஜ-ஆக்ஷ்ய: - the lotus eyed (damsels);
Translation
The lotus eyed damsels were allowed to participate in the pleasant sport with Thee, the very pure embodied essence of the resplendent supreme bliss. They were immersed in boundless bliss and so they fell victim to great pride and self importance.
ஶ்லோக:
நிலீயதேஸௌ மயி மய்யமாயம் ரமாபதிர்விஶ்வமனோபி⁴ராம: ।
இதி ஸ்ம ஸர்வா: கலிதாபி⁴மானா நிரீக்ஷ்ய கோ³விந்த்³ திரோஹிதோபூ⁴: ॥2॥
Meaning
நிலீயதே- - is engrossed; அஸௌ மயி - this (Krishna) in me; மயி-அமாயம் - in me, without doubt; ரமாபதி:- - the Consort of Laxmi,; விஶ்வ-மனோபி⁴ராம: - the captivator of the entire universe's mind; இதி ஸ்ம ஸர்வா: - thus indeed all of them; கலிதா-அபி⁴மானா: - full of pride; நிரீக்ஷ்ய - seeing (them thus); கோ³விந்த்³ - O Govind!; திரோஹித:-அபூ⁴: - (Thou) disappeared;
Translation
This Krishna the Consort of Laxmi and the captivator of the minds of the whole world, is engrossed in me.' Full of pride, all of them indeed thought thus. O Govinda! Being aware of this, Thou disappeared from their midst.
ஶ்லோக:
ராதா⁴பி⁴தா⁴ம் தாவதஜ³ாதக³ர்வாமதிப்ரியாம் கோ³பவதூ⁴ம் முராரே ।
ப⁴வானுபாதா³ய க³தோ விதூ³ரம் தயா ஸஹ ஸ்வைரவிஹாரகாரீ ॥3॥
Meaning
ராதா⁴-அபி⁴தா⁴ம் - Raadhaa named; தாவத் - till then; அஜாத-க³ர்வாம்- - (who) did not rear pride; அதி-ப்ரியாம் - very dear; கோ³பவதூ⁴ம் - the Gopikaa; முராரே - O Slayer of Mura!; ப⁴வான்-உபாதா³ய - Thou taking her along; க³த: விதூ³ரம் - went far away; தயா ஸஹ - with her; ஸ்வைர-விஹார-காரீ - at will sporting (with her);
Translation
O Slayer of Mura! One of the Gopikaas, Raadhaa by name, till then had reared no pride. Thou took her along with Thee far away and sported with her at will.
ஶ்லோக:
திரோஹிதேத² த்வயி ஜாததாபா: ஸமம் ஸமேதா: கமலாயதாக்ஷ்ய: ।
வனே வனே த்வாம் பரிமார்க³யந்த்யோ விஷாத³மாபுர்ப⁴க³வன்னபாரம் ॥4॥
Meaning
திரோஹிதே- - disappeared; அத² த்வயி - then (when) Thou; ஜாத-தாபா: - full of suffering; ஸமம் ஸமேதா: - together coming; கமலாயத-ஆக்ஷ்ய: - the lotus eyed ones; வனே வனே த்வாம் - in the various forests, Thee; பரிமார்க³யந்த்ய: - looking for; விஷாத³ம்-ஆபு:- - great grief felt; ப⁴க³வன்- - O Lord!; அபாரம் - intense;
Translation
O Lord! When Thou disappeared, the lotus eyed damsels, full of suffering the pangs of separation gathered together, looking around for Thee in the various forests from place to place in intense and utmost grief.
ஶ்லோக:
ஹா சூத ஹா சம்பக கர்ணிகார ஹா மல்லிகே மாலதி பா³லவல்ய: ।
கிம் வீக்ஷிதோ நோ ஹ்ருத³யைகசோர: இத்யாதி³ தாஸ்த்வத்ப்ரவணா விலேபு: ॥5॥
Meaning
ஹா சூத - O mango; ஹா சம்பக - O champaka; கர்ணிகார - Karnikaara; ஹா மல்லிகே - O Mallika; மாலதி - Maalati; பா³லவல்ய: - O tender creepers; கிம் வீக்ஷித: - what has been seen (by you all); ந:-ஹ்ருத³ய-ஏக-சோர: - our hearts' the one stealer; இதி-ஆதி³ தா:- - thus etc they; த்வத்-ப்ரவணா: - to Thee totally devoted; விலேபு: - lamented;
Translation
" O mango, O champaka, O Karnikaar, O Mallika, O maalati, O tender creepers! Did you see the one who has stolen our hearts?' Thus the totally devoted ones asked the fruit and flower trees and lamented.
ஶ்லோக:
நிரீக்ஷிதோயம் ஸகி² பங்கஜாக்ஷ: புரோ மமேத்யாகுலமாலபந்தீ ।
த்வாம் பா⁴வனாசக்ஷுஷி வீக்ஷ்ய காசித்தாபம் ஸகீ²னாம் த்³விகு³ணீசகார ॥6॥
Meaning
நிரீக்ஷித:- - is seen; அயம் ஸகி² - this, O friend; பங்கஜாக்ஷ: - lotus eyed one (Krishna); புர: மம-இதி- - in front of me, thus; ஆகுலம்- - excitedly; ஆலபந்தீ - saying; த்வாம் - Thee; பா⁴வனா-சக்ஷுஷி - (in) imaginative vision (eyes); வீக்ஷ்ய காசித் - seeing, some (women); தாபம் ஸகீ²னாம் - sufferings of the friends; த்³விகு³ணீ-சகார - double made;
Translation
O Friend! This lotus eyed Krishna, I see before me,' excitedly declared one of the Gopikas, seeing Thee with her imaginative vision. This only doubled the sufferings of her friends.
ஶ்லோக:
த்வதா³த்மிகாஸ்தா யமுனாதடாந்தே தவானுசக்ரு: கில சேஷ்டிதானி ।
விசித்ய பூ⁴யோபி ததை²வ மானாத்த்வயா விமுக்தாம் த³த்³ருஶுஶ்ச ராதா⁴ம் ॥7॥
Meaning
த்வத்-ஆத்மிகா:-தா - with Thee identified, they; யமுனா-தட-அந்தே - on the banks of the Yamunaa; தவ-அனுசக்ரு: - Thy imitated; கில சேஷ்டிதானி - indeed (Thy) deeds; விசித்ய - searching; பூ⁴ய:-அபி - all over again; ததா²-ஏவ மானாத்- - and also because of pride; த்வயா விமுக்தாம் - from Thee separated; த³த்³ருஶு:-ச - (they) saw and; ராதா⁴ம் - Raadhaa;
Translation
They had completely identified themselves with Thee. So, on the banks of the Yamunaa river they enacted and imitated Thy deeds. They went about searching for Thee all over again and they saw Raadhaa who was also separated from Thee because of pride.
ஶ்லோக:
தத: ஸமம் தா விபினே ஸமந்தாத்தமோவதாராவதி⁴ மார்க³யந்த்ய: ।
புனர்விமிஶ்ரா யமுனாதடாந்தே ப்⁴ருஶம் விலேபுஶ்ச ஜகு³ர்கு³ணாம்ஸ்தே ॥8॥
Meaning
தத: ஸமம் தா: - then together all of them; விபினே ஸமந்தாத்- - in the forest from end to end; தமோவதார-அவதி⁴ - till the darkness descending; மார்க³யந்த்ய: - searching; புன:-விமிஶ்ரா - again coming together; யமுனா-தட-அந்தே - on the banks of the Yamunaa; ப்⁴ருஶம் விலேபு:- - intensely lamented; ச ஜகு³:- - and sang; கு³ணான்-தே - Thy glories;
Translation
Together all of them went searching for Thee from end to end in the forest till it was dark. Again coming together on the banks of Yamunaa, they intensely lamented and spoke to each other about Thy glories and excellences.
ஶ்லோக:
ததா² வ்யதா²ஸங்குலமானஸானாம் வ்ரஜாங்க³னானாம் கருணைகஸிந்தோ⁴ ।
ஜக³த்த்ரயீமோஹனமோஹனாத்மா த்வம் ப்ராது³ராஸீரயி மந்த³ஹாஸீ ॥9॥
Meaning
ததா² வ்யதா²-ஸங்குல- - thus pain overcome; மானஸானாம் - minded; வ்ரஜாங்க³னானாம் - of the Vraja women; கருணைகஸிந்தோ⁴ - O Thou the ocean of mercy!; ஜக³த்-த்ரயீ-மோஹன- - the infatuator of the three world's Cupid; மோஹன-ஆத்மா - (Thee) his captivator; த்வம் - Thee; ப்ராது³:-ஆஸீ:- - appeared in front; அயி - O Thou; மந்த³ஹாஸீ - smiling softly;
Translation
O ocean of mercy! O charmer of Cupid who charms the three worlds! Thou then appeared smiling softly in front of the Vraja women whose minds were overcome by grief and pain.
ஶ்லோக:
ஸந்தி³க்³த⁴ஸந்த³ர்ஶனமாத்மகாந்தம் த்வாம் வீக்ஷ்ய தன்வ்ய: ஸஹஸா ததா³னீம் ।
கிம் கிம் ந சக்ரு: ப்ரமதா³திபா⁴ராத் ஸ த்வம் க³தா³த் பாலய மாருதேஶ ॥1௦॥
Meaning
ஸந்தி³க்³த-⁴ - doubtful of; ஸந்த³ர்ஶனம்- - seeing (meeting) Thee; ஆத்ம-காந்தம் - their own beloved; த்வாம் வீக்ஷ்ய - Thee seeing; தன்வ்ய: ஸஹஸா - the damsels suddenly; ததா³னீம் - then; கிம் கிம் - what what; ந சக்ரு: - not did; ப்ரமத-³அதி-பா⁴ராத் - by intense joyful state; ஸ த்வம் - that such Thou; க³தா³த் பாலய - from misery save me; மாருதேஶ - O Lord of Guruvaayur;
Translation
The beautiful women who were doubtful of seeing Thee, when they suddenly saw their own beloved in front, in what all ways did they not show their intensity of joy? That Thou O Lord of Guruvaayur! Save me from misery.
